The counties of La Cerdanya and L'Alt Urgell are joined by the Segre river basin and protected by the Cadí Mountain Range to the south and the Pyrenees to the north. It is here that the dairy farmers who are members of Cadí Societat Cooperativa live and work. With very similar climates and physical features, they make up a system of small valleys and meadows along the river and its tributaries, the most important of which is the Valira, which connects this area with the valleys of Andorra. Its Mediterranean mountain climate is dry and cold in winter, rainy in spring, hot and dry in summer and moist in autumn. It is ideal for the type of grass which gives the milk in this area its differential bouquet, producing dairy products with an outstanding quality.
